The National Archery Championship will kick off tomorrow, Oct 22, at Ha Noi's National Sports Training Centre.

Two records broken at 2008 national archery tourney

The tournament will draw more than 90 athletes from 10 cities and provinces who will complete in 18 events.

Ha Noi will send 15 women and 14 men to compete at and hopefully dominate the event.

Hai Phong will send 14 athletes, while Phu Tho and Hung Yen provinces will send 12 and 11, respectively.

Archers will have two days to practice before participating in the competition.

The championship is scheduled to conclude on October 31.

* Sy to coach Ninh Binh for third time

Centre to train goalkeepers

Coach Nguyen Van Sy has agreed to return to lead Vinakansai Ninh Binh next season.

It will be the third time the Nam Dinh Province-born trainer has worked with the club after twice standing in as manager for short periods.

The 39-year-old first took charge of the team in the second half of the 2007-08 season with Ninh Binh riding high in the First Division but he was not offered the full time position which went to coach Doan Minh Xuong.

After Xuong failed to make progress with the club, Sy took over for a second time and helped them gain promotion to the V-League in 2009. Shortly after, however, he had a falling out with the board and stepped down to take charge of the youth team.

In a bid to achieve V-League success, Ninh Binh hired and fired three coaches last season but ended up finishing 11th.
