The 48th session of Vietnam’s National Assembly Standing Committee will take place from August 11 to 13, with August 14–15 reserved if needed. The session will be held at the Tan Trao Hall in the National Assembly building, chaired by NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man and vice chairpersons in rotation.

The committee will review and give opinions on the revision of the draft Law on the State of Emergency; four draft laws on Extradition, Transfer of Persons Serving Prison Sentences, Mutual Legal Assistance in Civil Matters, and Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters; and amendments to the Law on Oversight Activities of the National Assembly and People’s Councils.

Other legislation for consideration includes draft laws on Temporary Detention, Custody, and Travel Restrictions; amendments to the Criminal Judgment Enforcement Law, Civil Judgment Enforcement Law, Education Law, Higher Education Law, and Vocational Education Law; as well as revisions to the Law on Drug Prevention and Control. The session will also review mechanisms and policies for developing Gia Binh International Airport.

The committee will decide on resolutions regarding the implementation of democracy within the NA and People’s Council bodies, regulations on task lists and budget norms for legislative and treaty-approval activities, and the number of regional audit offices under the State Audit Office.

The committee will examine the NA’s July 2025 citizen petition report and a report from the thematic supervision delegation on policies for developing and utilizing high-quality human resources.

It will also discuss a draft NA resolution on using local budgets to support costs for Samsung Group’s investment projects in Vietnam.
