VietNamNet Bridge – The National Assembly (NA) will soon have its own TV channel to provide comprehensive reportage on the activities of the assembly and local People's Councils.

NA chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung yesterday, May 16, requested all involved parties to set-up the channel in a thorough and timely manner.

He was speaking during the last working day of the 18th session of the NA Standing Committee.

The committee has decided that the Voice of Viet Nam, the national radio broadcaster, will be responsible for developing the channel.

The NA's Office will work with the Voice of Viet Nam to identify the specific responsibilities of the respective agencies.

Head of the NA's Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc said that his team would work on a proposal to be sent to the Prime Minister so that a decision can be made imminently on the establishment of such a channel.

The Ministry of National Defence has also opened its own TV channel. The channel will broadcast its first programme on Sunday, according to Major General Nguyen Trong Nghia, from the ministry.
