According to Point d, Clause 1, Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Code, employees are entitled to two full paid days off for National Day, including September 2 and one adjacent day, either before or after, as designated annually by the Prime Minister based on actual conditions.

Following the Prime Minister’s directive, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (now the Ministry of Home Affairs) has announced the 2025 National Day holiday schedule:

Government officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers in the state sector will have four consecutive days off, including the two paid holiday days (September 2 and one adjacent day) and the weekend (Saturday and Sunday), from Saturday, August 30, 2025, to Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

For workers in private companies or non-state sectors, the specific holiday schedule is determined by each business. However, all employers must ensure at least two days of paid leave, in compliance with legal regulations.

Depending on a company's weekly rest regime, actual days off may vary:

For companies that observe both Saturday and Sunday as weekly rest days, employees will have four consecutive days off from Saturday, August 30 to Tuesday, September 2.

For companies that only observe Sunday as a rest day, employees will have three consecutive days off from Sunday, August 31 to Tuesday, September 2.

For companies without a fixed weekly rest schedule, they are still required to provide employees with at least two paid days off, including September 2 and one adjacent day.

The Ministry of Home Affairs encourages private businesses to adopt the same holiday schedule as the public sector to facilitate favorable conditions for workers.

In summary, depending on the company’s weekly rest schedule, workers may have either 3 or 4 days off for this year’s National Day. Regardless of the structure, companies must provide at least two days of paid leave during this holiday.

Working on National Day: minimum 300% pay

As stipulated in Article 98 of the 2019 Labor Code, employees who work on National Day (September 2) are entitled to a higher wage rate than usual.

Specifically, those who work on the holiday must receive at least 300% of their standard wage, excluding the regular daily wage if they are paid by the day.

For work performed at night, employees must be paid an additional 30% of the standard daytime wage.

If working overtime at night during the holiday, they are further entitled to an additional 20% of the daytime wage, on top of the other holiday and night shift compensation.

A representative from the Hanoi Traffic Police Department stated that the unit has issued a traffic routing plan to accommodate events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.
