The tournament has attracted the participation of 10 teams and will be divided into two stages, Tran Minh Hung, deputy general director of the Voice of Viet Nam (VOV), said at a press conference in HCM City on Wednesday.
The first stage will take place from April 2-12 in Khanh Hoa Province’s Nha Trang City with Kim Toan Da Nang, Sanna Khanh Hoa, Sanest Tourist Khanh Hoa, Thai Son Bac, VietFootball and Quang Nam, a new team at this year’s tournament.
They will compete in a round robin format to decide the four teams that will progress to the second stage. The second stage will be held from April 15 to May 6 in Nha Trang City and from August 29 to September 19 in Lanh Binh Thang Gymnasium in HCM City’s District 11 with the four winners in the first stage and the top six teams from last year’s National Futsal HDBank Championships.
The winning team will walk away with a cash prize of VND500 million (US$21,500) and will join the AFC Futsal Championship 2020, while the runner-up will take VND200 million ($8,800). Third-place teams will be awarded VND80 million ($3,500).
Ten teams will also compete at another futsal tournament, the National Futsal HDBank Cup from November 11 to 30 in Vinh City in the central province of Nghe An.
The winner will receive the first prize of VND200 million ($8,800), while the runner-up and third place will pocket VND100 million ($4,400) and VND50 million ($2,200), respectively.
The tournaments are organised by the Voice of Viet Nam (VOV) and Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF), and sponsored by HD Bank.
