VietNamNet Bridge – The National Junior Sepaktakraw Championship 2018 has kicked off in Dong Nai. The event has attracted 200 athletes from 13 provinces, cities and sepaktakraw clubs across the country, including Hanoi, Yen Bai, Dong Nai, Vinh Long, and Soc Trang.

Teams compete in 12 categories, including men’s, women’s, under 16 and 17 to 20.

According to Le Duy Luong, deputy chairman of the World Sepaktakraw Federation and head of the Viet Nam Sepaktakraw Federation, most teams have experienced athletes.

“Teams like Hanoi, HCM City, Dong Nai, and Soc Trang have some experienced competitors. However, Bac Lieu and Bac Giang also bring many new faces,” Luong said on Tuesday.

The tournament is a foundation for the organising board to select high qualified athletes for international contests.

This is also a chance for athletes to exchange experience and review their training methods.

“We expect both U16 and U20 teams to create a breakthrough this season.”

The tournament lasts until July 25.
