VietNamNet Bridge – As many as 150 shooters from 10 teams nationwide will be participating at the 19th National Shooting Cup which kicked off yesterday, May 22, in Ha Noi.

They will compete in individual and team events for both men and women.

The event, which will run until May 29, will give athletes a chance to hone their skills for upcoming international and domestic events.
At the 18th championships last year, hosts Ha Noi topped the medal tally with 13 golds, nine silvers and 10 bronzes.

Thanh shoots fifth at World Cup

Shooter Ha Minh Thanh finished fifth out of 39 competitors with 586 points in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event at the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup Stage in Italy.

It was the best result of the Vietnamese shooting team at the tournament.

In the men's 50m pistol event, Thanh only earned 553 points, ranking 30 out of 74, while Hoang Xuan Vinh, who has already qualified for the London Olympics, finished in 43rd with 545 points.

In the men's 10m air pistol event, Tran Quoc Cuong finished 18th out of 83 with 580 points while Vinh ranked 23rd with 578 points.

Le Thi Hoang Ngoc, who has also secured a berth at the Olympic Games, failed to impress in the women's events. She finished 37th with 570 points in the 25m pistol, and 53rd with 372 points in the 10m air pistol.

The event wrapped up on Monday.
