In a meeting held to welcome the New Year and mark the Party's 84th founding anniversary, he said the Party and State have always valued intellectuals, artists and scientists as a vital source of brainpower for the nation.

Wishing them a happy and prosperous Year of the Horse, he said they had made significant contributions to the nation's socio-economic achievements through creative works in science, literature, art and journalism.

This year, Viet Nam will organise a number of important events to inspire the nation's thinkers to create more valuable works, contributing further to national development, he said.

For their part, representatives of the intellectual, artistic and scientific community expressed their happiness at the social, economic and cultural progress made by Viet Nam.

They appreciated the favourable policies that the Party and Sate have issued to support the community in optimising their talents and creative abilities.

Also yesterday, President Truong Tan Sang offered Tet greetings to family members of the late General Vo Nguyen Giap at the latter's house on Hoang Dieu Street.

He expressed his sincere gratitude to the late general and said that people from all walks of life and every corner of the country continue to remember General Giap, who passed away at the age of 103 in October.

State President Truong Tan Sang offers Tet greetings to the family members of the late General Vo Nguyen Giap. 

 

 

His resting place in Quang Binh Province continues to receive thousands of visitors per day, the family informed the President.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung offered incense at President Ho Chi Minh's old house to pay tribute to the late leader.

The ceremony took place at Ha Noi's Presidential Palace complex where Ho Chi Minh worked and passed away.

Dung reflected on the leader's unparalleled contributions to Viet Nam's national liberation and reunification successes.

He also lauded efforts by the historical site's curators to preserve artifacts related to the late leader.

Their work introduces President Ho Chi Minh's life and achievements to both domestic and international visitors, he said.

The Prime Minister urged the site's staff to continue their conservation work saying it was crucial for future generations.

Approximately 2.5 million workers visit the late President's old house and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum every year.

The nation's leaders also conveyed Tet greetings to religious leaders and communities across the country.
