VietNamNet Bridge – The stump of a sua tree (Dalbergia tonkinensis Prain) which was found by two fishermen in Quang Binh province and is valued at VND17 billion (nearly $900,000) has been handed over to the museum of Quang Binh province for display.

The sua tree is listed as an endangered flora species in Vietnam and is on the international red list. Sua timber is rare and valuable, and as per local myth, can be used for spiritual purposes and treatment of some diseases in China. The price is very high.

The sua stump at the Quang Binh Museum is very expensive because it is up to 2.1 tons in weight.

The stump was discovered in a stream in Bo Trach district by a fisherman and his son, and it was fished out by rangers of Bo Trach district in February.
