From December 12 to 21, Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) will enter its final phase of trial operations, running approximately 200 trips daily. This marks the final preparation before the official launch for passengers on December 22.
HURC1, the Ho Chi Minh City Metro One-Member Limited Liability Company, has announced its plan for the final trial runs of Metro Line 1. This marks a significant milestone for Ho Chi Minh City’s first urban railway line, which is set to commence passenger services on December 22.
The trial will cover the full 19-kilometer route, which includes three underground stations (Ben Thanh, Opera House, and Ba Son) and 11 elevated stations (Van Thanh, Tan Cang, Thao Dien, An Phu, Rach Chiec, Phuoc Long, Binh Thai, Thu Duc, Hi-Tech Park, Vietnam National University, and Suoi Tien Bus Station).
On December 12, Metro Line 1 will operate 48 trips using four trains, with a 20-minute interval between each trip.
Outbound trips: 24 trains will depart from Suoi Tien Bus Station (Thu Duc City) to Ben Thanh Station (District 1), starting at 8:00 AM and ending at 3:40 PM.
Inbound trips: Another 24 trains will travel from Ben Thanh Station back to Suoi Tien Bus Station, starting at 8:40 AM and concluding at 4:20 PM.
From December 13 to 21, the metro system will ramp up its frequency and operational hours. Nine trains will run daily between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM, completing 200 trips per day. During peak hours, trains will operate at 8-minute intervals, while off-peak intervals will extend to 12 minutes.
On December 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) handed over assets from the CP3 package, valued at over 13,000 billion VND, to HURC1. This package includes the procurement of electromechanical equipment, locomotives, carriages, and rail systems.
The transfer is a crucial step for MAUR and HURC1 to take full control of the operation and management of Metro Line 1’s equipment and train systems, paving the way for its long-anticipated launch.
