Launched on August 5 by Vietnam Post, the “Hat Vang Buu Dien” (Golden Seeds of Post Office) program is expected to donate 820 tons of rice to poor people, people with disabilities, guest students, and unemployed workers ... in eight provinces and cities severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, including Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Long An, Tien Giang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Ben Tre.
In the past few days, local Post Offices have coordinated with relevant agencies to quickly deliver rice to people. In some areas, Post Offices carried rice directly to the home of disadvantaged people.
Vietnam Post also donated tens of tons of rice and hundreds of millions of VND to humanitarian centers, quarantine areas and field hospitals in Covid-19-hit provinces.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the program "Happiness Station - Touching Love" has been implemented at 20 post offices since August 5. More than 100 tons of food and necessities from benefactors throughout the country were transported free of charge by Viettel Post to Ho Chi Minh City to support needy people.
The "Happiness Stations" are opened in many districts in Ho Chi Minh City to help people in difficulty.

With the criteria of the right person, the right object, the right situation and in a timely manner, the program organizer continuously receives information and captures the need to support people in many isolated areas in Ho Chi Minh City. "Happiness Stations" were opened in many districts to help disadvantaged groups across the city to come and receive gifts according to their needs.
Viettel Post General Director Tran Trung Hung says that the program has received over 100 tons of food and necessities from benefactors. Since August 6, Viettel Post has also presented gifts to needy families in 16 isolated areas.
From August 18 to September 3, Viettel Post will coordinate with the Military Region 7 to present 6,000 gift set including rice, eggs, fish and spices to people in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
By August 15, postal businesses set up 4,346 points to supply essential goods in 27 provinces and cities that imposed social distancing measures.
The total volume of essential goods provided by Vietnam Post, Viettel Post, Fast Delivery, Economical Delivery and Netco in these localities reached 29,152 tons by August 15, with a total value of 793.16 billion VND. In addition, postal enterprises transported 5,751 tons of goods under the direction of local authorities.
In related news, about VND160 billion has been raised from businesses during a programme launched by the Ministry of Information and Communications on August 17 to support people affected by COVID-19 in HCM City.
The ministry has called for the engagement of big firms such as VNPT, Viettel Telecom, T&T Group, MBank, Vietnam Post and Viettel Post in the programme, which will run until September 15.
The programme targets poor people and those facing difficulties due to COVID-19 in HCM City, the current largest hotspot of the pandemic. Basing on the list of beneficiaries made by the municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Vietnam Post and Viettel Post will coordinate with local authorities to deliver gifts of necessities worth VND300,000 each. More than 533,000 people are expected to benefit from the programme.
