Nearly 550 trade fraud cases tackled within one month

Customs agencies nationwide detected and handled 543 cases violating customs regulations between December 16, 2022, and January 15, 2023, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

The value of commodities confiscated in these violated cases was estimated at VND196 billion and VND14.5 billion went to the State budget, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

The customs also took legal action against two cases and proposed law enforcement agencies press charges against three others.

The customs, in coordination with the police and border guards, discovered 23 violations and detained 31 individuals. They confiscated 20.9 kilograms of heroin, 4.5 kilograms of cannabis, 65.6 kilograms of ketamine, 7.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, 3.5 kilograms and 6,100 pills of drugs.

The General Department of Vietnam Customs said that the given period and the Lunar New Year holiday overlapped, during which trade fraud, drugs and goods trafficking by air, post, and the road turned more complicated. Many violators adopted various sophisticated practices to evade the competent forces.
