Khang, 27, is studying Media Management for a master’s degree in Poland. Prior to that, the man from Soc Trang obtained a full scholarship from Arqus Alliance, an alliance of nine universities in Europe reserved for nine students.
With the scholarship, Khang is exempted from all tuition for the master’s program and receives a stipend of 1,400 euros a month (VND38 million).
The scholarship is the achievement which has come after a long period of making every effort and after dozens of refusals from universities.
Once a maths major student at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School for the Gifted in Soc Trang, he did very well in school. However, at that time, he still did not know what he wanted. Finally, he decided to enroll in the HCM City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, one of the most famous schools in Vietnam which always sets high cutoff scores for candidates.
However, during the first year at the school, Khang realized that he did not want to become a doctor like his friends and decided to share his thoughts with his parents, who advised him against doing this. But he believed that if he did not have passion for something, he would not be able to do this well.
He decided to study international business at the HCM City Economics University after many thoughts.
In summer 2018, Khang participated in an AIESEC international voluntary project in Malaysia and spent six weeks in the country. In 2019, he became one of six students obtaining a scholarship for one-week cultural exchange in Osaka and Kyoto in Japan.
After graduating from university, he began applying for a scholarship to study for a master’s degree, but failed.
The failures did not discourage him, but gave him more energy to upgrade his academic knowledge and working experience. He learned many things from failed attempts.
In 2023, after he gained achievements in research and international publications, Khang obtained a full scholarship from Arqus Alliance.
The scholarship gave him the opportunity to study and live in two to three countries over two years. After six months of studying at Wroclaw University in Poland, he had a 6-month study at Padova University. At present, he is studying at Maynooth University.
