The project on Soi Sim Island is aimed to preserve Ha Long Bay’s rare animals and plants as well as promote the bay’s biodiversity.
Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, director of Soi Sim Ltd. Co. which is the investor in the project, said that around 50% of the project has been completed for the scheduled opening in October this year. The site, however, does not allow visitors to stay overnight.
According to Ho Quang Huy, vice chairman of Ha Long City People’s Committee, the project will also include a nice beach which is expected to ease the overload for the nearby Ti Top Island.
The company has collected a range of plants and animals as well as stones from Ha Long Bay to be displayed at a museum on Soi Sim Island.
Huy also denied accusations of deforestation and concreting on Soi Sim Island. He specified that some roads on the island were built many years ago, so, they needed to be rebuilt following the suggestion from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
After taking over the project from Ha Long Tourism Services JS Company in 2015, Soi Sim Ltd. Co. has replaced all concrete roads on the project with wood.
