VietNamNet Bridge - After a lull, the heat will return to the northern and north-central provinces of Vietnam in the next three days, with the highest temperature of up to 38 degrees Celsius, said the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.
The north is suffering intense heat, with temperatures between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius. The temperatures will be similar in the central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue.
The heat in Hanoi will be up to 37 degrees Celsius.
In the past few days some places in northern and central Vietnam had temperatures of 37.3 degrees Celsius in Muong La (Son La Province) and Hoa Binh Province, 38.5 degrees Celsius in Bac Me (Ha Giang) and up to 38.9 degrees Celsius in Tuong Duong (Nghe An Province).
Average temperatures across the country in the summer months will be between 0.5-1 degrees Celsius higher than normal due to the impact of the El Nino weather pattern, while less rainfall will contribute to continued water shortages in central Vietnam through mid-September, the centre warned.
