The central province also prohibits many sports, tourism and transport activities, aquaculture farming and exploitation to protect the environment of Nha Trang Bay, which has been recognized as one of the most beautiful bays in the world.

The decision signed by provincial chairman Nguyen Chien Thang also clarifies the areas to be strictly protected, areas for ecological restoration and ones for development.

The strictly protected area comprises of the east and southeast of Tre Islet (Hon Tre), from Dam Bay to Hon Mun, Hon Noc, Hon Vung and Hon Cau. Water sports like parasailing, windsurfing and diving are not allowed.

Besides, construction works on the islands in Nha Trang Bay must have their architectural designs in harmony with nature and have environmental impact assessment reports. The operators of boats, ships and tourism facilities are required to invest in equipment to collect, treat waste and deal with environmental incidents.

The beautiful bay of Nha Trang has attracted large numbers of tourists. However, there have been complaints about the negative impact of tourism activities and fishing on the environment and affect coral reefs in the bay.
