The National Steering Committee for Corruption Prevention and Combat has set up seven groups to scrutinise anti-corruption work at a number of ministries and localities from early June to late July this year.

Those undergoing inspections are the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

The ten scrutinised localities are Vinh Phuc, Bac Giang, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Da Nang, Gia Lai, Lam Dong, Binh Duong, Kien Giang and Dong Thap.

The investigators will examine anti-corruption measures and the investigation and handling of relevant cases, especially those in economics and of public concern.

They will also focus on orientations and measures to help ministries, sectors and localities address difficulties and limitations in the field.

The examinations, now in the third year, are beneficial for the revision of anti-corruption work in the 2011-2016 tenure and help the involved parties gain useful understandings in the field.

Between 2013 and 2014, the committee established 18 investigation groups to scrutinise anti-corruption efforts in seven ministries and 19 cities and provinces.
