VietNamNet Bridge – In an attempt to restore a sense of decorum in the field of culture, sports, tourism and advertising, the government has issued a new decree proposing increased penalties on lip-syncers, and models and actresses who wear scanty outfits.

As per the new decree, models, singers and actors will be fined from VND3 million to VND5 million if they willingly change song lyrics or words in a drama.

Actors and models will be fined upto VND5-10 million (US$472) for wearing revealing outfits or culturally inappropriate costumes and makeup onstage.

Anyone who performs a banned piece of work will be fined upto VND15million ($711).

In addition to fines, any artist who does lip syncing or plays recordings in solo instrumental performances and wears culturally inappropriate clothes will be banned from performing for one to three months.

Anyone who performs fashion shows that propagate social evil or are not in accordance with Vietnamese traditional values or participates in pornographic works with banned content or scenes of violence and obscenity will be banned from performing for three to six months.

A fine of VND40 million ($1,896) will be applied for organizers of unlicensed beauty pageants who take contestants to take part in beauty, modeling contests abroad without permission.

Discotheques, bars, karaoke bars and places of entertainment will be penalized upto VND30 million ($ 1,422) if they organize striptease or other obscene acts. Moreover, they can face withdrawal of license from 12-24 months.

Other acts violating civilized society or those detrimental to traditional Vietnamese values and customs or desecrating a holy place with filthy images, will receive appropriate punishment.
