Tax exemption on entry luggage worth VND10 million
People entering Vietnam will be permitted to bring goods including wine, beer and cigarette in their luggage worth VND10 million (US$445) without entry tax payment.
They can also take with them 1.5 liter of wine from 22 percent alcohol and stronger, two liters of wine of less than 22 percent alcohol, three liters of alcoholic drink and beer, 200 cigarettes and 500 grams of tobacco free of charge.
The tax exemption will not be applied to frequent entries to the country but every 90 days.
Individuals bringing into Vietnam a car to serve their work will be exempt from import tariff, special consumption tax and value added tax. The car must be re-exported from the country after they leave the country. They can sell it in Vietnam but have to pay tax.
Customs declaration obligatory to bring over US$5,000
People entering or exiting Vietnam with more than 300 grams of gold jewelry or US$5,000 must do customs declarations.
Those having consigned goods before or after their flights to and from Vietnam and implementing temporary import and re-export of goods must have customs declaration too.
11 types of health and social insurance papers abolished
The Vietnam Social Insurance Agency has issued a decision to abolish 11 types of papers in procedures that beneficiaries must do to take social and health insurance premium.
VND20 million penalty to those simulating divorce
The Government has released a decree in which those getting a divorce to avoid population law violations or financial obligations will face VND10-20 million (US$445-890) in penalties.
IDP licensing from October
The Directorate for Roads of Vietnam announced that they have prepared to grant International Driving Permit (IDP) in October, which Vietnamese citizens can use in 85 nations.
The directorate’s deputy director Vu Do Anh Dung said that people can get the license after five days from the day they file necessary documents as required.
