The 150-seat Rex Sen Vang (Rex Golden Lotus) is located in the Vertical Garden of Rex Hotel in District 1.

It offers traditional performances such as water puppetry, Hue royal dance, hat boi (classical theatre) and cai luong (reformed opera).

All performances will include subtitles in nine languages, including English, French, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.

The theatre’s shows begin at 8pm every day and tickets are VND300,000 (US$25) each.

The investors, Rex Hotel and Thai Duong Performance Company, spent VND1.3 billion ($58,000) to build the theatre.

The Thai Duong Performance Company owns IDECAF Drama Stage, one of the region’s first and leading private drama troupes.

Huynh Anh Tuan, art director of Thai Duong Performance Company, said that they hoped local authorities would offer more support to the theatre’s traditional performances to introduce Vietnamese culture and lifestyle to visitors.

“Our shows serve visitors, particularly foreign audiences. We’ve worked with dozens of tourist agencies and companies to develop our business,” he said.
