VietNamNet Bridge – A pregnant woman at the 37th week was in the bathroom when her husband suddenly pushed down the door with a knife. He stabbed the woman, with one to the abdomen, making the baby drop out.
The woman is now treated at the Cho Ray Hospital.
The victim is a 32-year-old woman named H.N from Tan Phu district, HCM City. She and her baby have been rescued by doctors of the Cho Ray Hospital.
In the evening of December 11, H.N family welcomed a guest. Her husband drank some wine at the dinner. After the guest left, H.N had a bath. While she was in the bathroom, her husband suddenly pushed down the door, with a 30cm-long knife on his hand. The man stabbed his wife, with one to her belly. The woman fell down to the floor and the baby also dropped out from her womb.
After attacking his wife, the man walked out of the bathroom and stabbed himself.
Trying to get calm, the woman shut the door-latch and held the baby, with the umbilical cord still attached. The baby had a long wound in the buttock. The mother clapped the baby to make him cry in order to open the respiratory system. She tried to open the door to crawl out to call for help. Seeing her conditions, all neighbors were frightened.
The mother and the child were transferred to the hospital of the Tan Binh Industrial Park for first aid and then to the Hung Vuong Hospital. The mother was then again moved to the Cho Ray Hospital while the baby was transferred to the Children's Hospital 1 for treatment.
Dr. Pham Van Dong of the Cho Ray Hospital said that the baby fell out from the womb through a 15cm stab. She had three other stabs on her head and neck. Doctors conducted a 3-hour surgery and transfused 6l of blood to save the woman.
The mother and her baby are now in stable conditions.
The husband is also being treated at another hospital. The cause of this incident has not been determined yet.
