The Ministry of Information and Communications has issued a decision to fine two newspapers for publishing untrue information.

Under the decision, Nguoi dua tin (The Messenger) online newspaper, located in Cau Giay district, will be fined at VND38 million (US$1,700) for publishing untrue information, violations on press operations and distributing superstitious news, Dang Anh Tuan, the ministry's inspector said yesterday.

Additionally, Tuoi Tre Thu Do (Capital Youth) newspaper, located in Hoan Kiem district, will be fined VND25 million ($1,100) for violations in advertising supplementary products.

Officials have said the newspaper must correct issued information under the regulation of the law.
