In the women's singles final, Nguyen Thi Thanh defeated Ha Noi's Nguyen Thi Anh Nguyet to win the first gold medal for Nghe An.

Le Cong Tai bagged the second gold medal for Nghe An when he defeated Dinh Van Duc of Bac Giang in the men's singles final.

Dong Thap temporarily took the lead in this category with three gold, one silver and two bronze medals. Nghe An were placed second with two gold medals, while Ha Noi and Bac Giang shared the third place with two silver and three bronze medals.

In the vovinam (Vietnamese martial arts) event which wrapped up yesterday, HCM City triumphed with nine gold medals, and one silver and one bronze medal. Can Tho were placed second with five gold medals, and the Military team came third with three gold medals.

Today, the volleyball matches will begin, with 222 athletes from 19 teams nationwide competing in the northern province of Thai Binh.
