Bui Van Can, from Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province and his fellow crewmembers caught a rare giant ocean sunfish in the Gulf of Tonkin waters.

The fish has a length of 1.4 metres, a width of 1.6 metres and a weight of more than 120 kilogrammes.
The ocean sunfish, Mola mola, or common mola, is the heaviest known bony fish in the world and is listed in the Vietnam Red Data Book as an endangered species.
Knowing that this is a rare fish, Can notified the Vietnam Museum of Nature.
