In the Ky Son district, a flash flood came in the daytime, but since it came too fast local people could not respond to emergency. Dozens of houses were swept away while hundreds of others were flooded.
The elderly people in Ky Son said that the flash flood on June 25 came from several days of downpours in upper Laos. The flood moved quickly due to the protective forest in Vietnam had been destroyed.
In Tuong Duong district, many communes were flooded in water and mud after a downpour on night of June 24. Some communes were isolated and lost power and communications. Many sections of National Highway 7 that connects Vinh city to districts in western Nghe An province was broken. Some schools were swept away by floods.
Flood water is withdrawing in Nghe An but the consequence is huge. According Nghe An authorities, one died, three were missing, 1,450 houses were collapsed and flooded totaling millions of US dollars in Haima storm.
