VietNamNet Bridge – Police of the central province of Nghe An and drug-related crime investigation police have smashed one of the biggest drug trading rings in Vietnam, which transported narcotics from Laos to Nghe An.

After a long time of investigation, at 11.30am of July 31, police arrested Vu Duc Manh, 48, from Nam Dinh city and Nguyen Thi Nhung, 36, from Nghe An province, at the Vinh City railway station, Nghe An province.
Police searched Manh and Nhung’s luggage and detected 10.5kg of heroin and VND19 million (nearly $1,000). Manh and Nhung declared that the drug was transported from Laos to Vietnam through the border in Que Phong district of Nghe An province and would be carried to HCM City.
From the evening of July 31 to the morning of August 1, police arrested three more drug traffickers: Nguyen Thi Thu, 32, Nguyen Thi Chau, 44, and Truong Thi Hue, 37, all from Nghe An.
Police seized VND2.87 billion ($143,000), 14 taels of gold, $207,000, and a car, totaling over $400,000.
At 12pm of August 1, police searched Thu’s house and discovered 14kg of heroin.

In this case, police seized a total of 24.5kg of heroin and over 8 billion. This is one of the biggest drug trading rings that has been detected in Vietnam.
On the afternoon of August 1, Nghe An province’s Chairman Ho Duc Phuoc and Nghe An Police agency gave VND90 million ($4,500) of bonus to investigators.
Police are investigating the case.
