 VietNamNet Bridge – Statues of traditional sacred animals guarding the gates of temples, pagodas and relics are gradually replacing fiercer looking animals designed in China, but made in Vietnam.

Foreign-style animal statues to be removed from monuments within three months

 VietNamNet Bridge – February 2015 is the deadline for removal of foreign-styled animal statues from historical and cultural monuments. However, monument managers are having difficulty complying with the regulation because of a lack of guidance.

 VietNamNet Bridge – On Tuesday the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition sent photos to all 63 provinces and cities of sacred animal statues that have been used for centuries as “guards” at temples in Vietnam.
