Nghia finished the men’s junior time trial 22km event with a time of 30.32 min to rank third, behind Daniil Pronskiy of Kazakhstan (29.21min) and Chu Tsun Wai from Hong Kong (29.54min), respectively.

“Nghia is a good cyclist. He has potential in the time trial and mountain climbing events. The hard-working and determined athlete will reach high in his career if he tries harder and is given more opportunities to compete internationally,” said coach Mai Cong Hieu.

The Myanmar tournament which runs from February 8-12 lures about 400 participants from across the continent.

Vietnam sent 10 athletes, both men and women, who competed in the categories for men’s juniors and women’s elites in Nay Pyi Taw.

All eyes will be on Southeast Asian Games winner Nguyen Thi That, the nation’s top cyclist, in the road race event on Sunday.
