Nguyen Quoc Trieu, head of the board, was quoted by Tuoi Tre newspaper as saying that preliminary checks conducted by leading doctors on Saturday showed Thanh’s hematological indicators were stable but he is still under special supervision.
Trieu said after chemotherapy in the U.S., Thanh needs time for his health improvement before getting more chemotherapy.
Pham Gia Khai, deputy head of the board, was quoted by Tuoi Tre as saying that the therapies of doctors from the U.S., Singapore and Vietnam would be used to treat Thanh to prevent blood infection risks for him.
Trieu also added that traditional medicine doctors and hematological specialists will join hands to treat Thanh in the coming days.
Thanh was taken to the Cancer and Tumor Ward of Danang Hospital for treatment after he arrived at Danang International Airport Friday night, more than four months after getting medical treatment at an American hospital.
Thanh was diagnosed with bone marrow disorder in May last year before he came to Singapore and the U.S. for treatment.
The 62-year-old Thanh, who became head of the Party Central Committee’s Internal Affairs Commission in December 2012 after serving as secretary of the Danang City Party Committee, received an enthusiastic welcome from Danang residents along the way from Danang International Airport to Danang Hospital.
