Under the decision of the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises, Mr. Hien, 48, began his five-year tenure at MobiFone on June 1.
Before becoming the top leader at MobiFone, Mr. Hien, a graduate in Financial Law at Queen Mary of London University, used to serve as head of the Technology and Infrastructure Department at the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises. He had also worked at the State Capital Investment Corporation or SCIC, serving as deputy head of SCIC in 2014.
Mr. Hien’s predecessor, Nguyen Manh Thang, is now a member of the Members Council of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), having led MobiFone since 2017.
In 2021, MobiFone obtained revenue of VND31 trillion and a pre-tax profit of VND4.96 trillion despite impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, all beating the annual targets. It aims a revenue of VND31.36 trillion and a pre-tax profit of VND4.7 trillion this year.
