On the evening of November 28, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh officially handed over presidential appointment decisions and assigned responsibilities to the newly appointed Minister of Finance, Nguyen Van Thang, and Minister of Transport, Tran Hong Minh.
The Prime Minister emphasized the pivotal roles of these ministries in achieving the government’s objectives for 2024 and 2025. He highlighted their responsibilities in implementing transformative initiatives and navigating challenges to accelerate Vietnam’s growth trajectory.
In the face of numerous opportunities and challenges, the Prime Minister reiterated the government’s philosophy: resources stem from ideas, motivation arises from innovation, and power comes from the people.
He urged the new ministers to leverage their strengths and professional experience while fostering unity and collaboration within the government. “If we’ve already been determined, we must aim even higher; if we’ve already made efforts, we must strive even harder; if we’ve already been effective, we must achieve even greater results,” he said.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of efficiency, decisiveness, and timely action, advising the ministers to work systematically, complete tasks thoroughly, and adapt to new demands under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
For the Ministry of Finance, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh tasked Nguyen Van Thang with maintaining a focused and expanded fiscal policy, restructuring national finances, cutting regular expenditures, and prioritizing developmental investments. He also urged the ministry to develop capital and financial markets while mobilizing resources to support economic growth.
For the Ministry of Transport, the Prime Minister directed Tran Hong Minh to ensure the timely completion of major national infrastructure projects, particularly the Long Thanh International Airport, slated for substantial completion by 2025. He highlighted the sector’s critical role in driving significant breakthroughs in transport infrastructure.
Both ministers were also reminded to streamline organizational structures, reduce administrative personnel, and enhance anti-corruption, anti-waste, and anti-negligence measures.
Other key appointments
Also on November 28, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and the Party Delegation to the National Assembly announced and presented resolutions concerning the appointment of Le Quang Tung.
Earlier, the National Assembly approved a resolution electing Le Quang Tung as a member of its Standing Committee and Secretary-General for the 15th session.
Following the session, the Party Delegation and the Standing Committee convened to appoint Tung as Chairman of the National Assembly Office and Chief of Staff for the Party Delegation.
With a unanimous vote (18/18), the Standing Committee and Party Delegation formalized Tung’s appointments.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man officially presented the decisions for both positions to Le Quang Tung.
