Speaking with Nhan Dan reporters, Ingi Olafsson, Director of the World Print Forum, praised the supplement for its exceptional print quality, ease of access for young readers, and bilingual presentation in both Vietnamese and English. He further noted that the supplement’s panoramic format is visually striking, leaving a lasting impression on readers.
Olafsson highlighted the innovative use of QR codes, enabling readers - especially the younger generation - to use their smartphones to explore augmented reality (AR) experiences, making the content more interactive and immersive.
This supplement not only serves as a piece of journalism but has become an educational tool accessible to a wide range of readers, especially younger audiences, encouraging them to engage with Vietnam’s rich historical legacy.
“Nhan Dan is excelling at its role, especially in educating younger generations about the nation’s history,” Olafsson said. “The paper has succeeded in attracting young readers back to print media, which is commendable in this digital era.”
Olafsson emphasized that with the growing demand for quality information, print publications must continue to innovate both in terms of content and design to remain relevant in the age of digital media.
The 2024 World Print Summit brought together publishers and printers from around the world to discuss the future of the print industry, with a focus on sustainability and innovation. The event featured panels, discussions, and networking opportunities for industry professionals.
Nhan Dan’s panoramic Dien Bien Phu supplement was initially published on May 7, 2024, in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the historic victory.
The publication generated an overwhelming response from young readers, selling 400,000 copies within just 15 days. Demand for the supplement continued to grow both in print and digital formats, marking a historic success in Vietnam’s print media landscape.
