The elevated section will be operational in 2020 and eight stations will be completed by the end of this year.

Construction on this depot, located on Road 70, Tay Tuu Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, began on January 31.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by the investor, Systra supervision consultants (France), the directorial board of the construction package, staff, contractors’ representatives and press.

The CP08 construction package included designing, supplying and installing the new rail systems, the depot and power supplies. It was agreed upon between Ha Noi Urban Railway Management Board and France’s Colas Rail contractor and was initiated on September 5, 2017. The package is valued at VND929 billion (US$40 million) and funded by ODA from the European Development Bank (EIB).

After more than a year of construction, CP08 is 45 per cent complete. The contractor has imported key materials using rail transport provided by Evraz Group (Russia), including rail accessories and a clamping system provided by Pandrol (UK), logs and lane changes provided by Vostalpine (Austria) and a power supply system provided by Railtech (France).

According to the representative of the investor, quality of all key materials for the rail installation meets strict European standards. The main rail materials and rail clip accessories have already been transported to the site and are under construction. The remaining major materials are expected to be transported to the construction site in March and April.
