VietNamNet Bridge - On January 1, the police of the Mekong Delta City of Can Tho said that nine Chinese men were administratively fined for having different activities from the purpose of entry without permission of the authorities.
Three of them were fined VND15 million ($700) each and six people were fined VND10 million ($500) per person.
A week ago, police of O Mon district, Can Tho, was informed of a wedding of a 32-year-old Vietnamese girl with Li Guang, 44, a Chinese national at her home in Chau Van Liem ward, O Mon district. The groom entered Vietnam on November 16, 2012, for the purpose of business, but in fact, to illegally marry a Vietnamese girl. The man was fined VND15 million.
A day later, Can Tho City Police discovered Hua Xiaole, 37, and his 22-year-old Vietnamese wife organized a meeting for 6 Chinese men to see four southwestern girls at Hoan Cau hotel in Thoi Binh ward, Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city on December 27, 2012.
Xiaole declared that he entered Vietnam for tourism purposes but he and his wife acted as matchmakers for six Chinese men. The couple “selected” 11 Vietnamese girls, earning VND20 million ($1,000) in “fees” per girl.
On the same day, Can Tho City Police discovered a 42-year-old Chinese man named Hao Bin who lived with a girl from Hau Giang province. They earned VND32 million ($1,500) for introducing two girls to Chinese men.
