Ninh Thuan province currently has 19,239 households with 85,343 Cham ethnic people, accounting for 11% of the province's population, who live in 35 villages in 13 communes and towns in 6 districts and cities. Cham people in Ninh Thuan still preserve many traditional rituals and craft villages. Especially, on January 29, 2022, the Cham ceramic art heritage was officially registered by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage in need of urgent protection. The people of Bau Truc pottery village in particular and Cham people in general are very excited and proud of their pottery art.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ninh Thuan Province, to turn tourism development into a key economic sector, the province will prioritize the development of specific, novel and complementary product groups. The Provincial People's Committee will create the most favorable conditions to attract investment; strongly improve the investment environment to attract businesses into this field.

To concretize solutions to stimulate tourism demand and promote tourist attraction in the last months of 2023 and early 2024, Ninh Thuan province has strengthened cooperation with Can Tho city in the field of culture and tourism, thereby promoting tourism growth to turn tourism into a key economic sector in the near future.

Mr. Nguyen Long Bien, Vice Chairman of Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee said that on the occasion of Can Tho organizing activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of establishment of Can Tho as a centrally run city on November 3 - 5, Ninh Thuan will organize the Ninh Thuan Culture and Tourism Day in Can Tho with the theme: "Ninh Thuan - A land of convergence of different values". This is an opportunity for the province to promote the cultural beauty of ethnic groups as well as its tourism and specific products to domestic and foreign tourists.

On this occasion, Ninh Thuan province will set up booths to display and introduce traditional handicraft products such as: Displaying products and demonstrating the art of pottery making of the Cham people in Bau Truc village, and brocade weaving of the Cham people of My Nghiep village, unique musical instruments of the province; advertising the province's tourism through video clips introducing tourism potential and strengths, key tourism projects, introductory materials, and promotion of attractive tourism products; introducing its typical dishes, OCOP products, and Ninh Thuan’s specific products.

In addition, the province will organize art performances and introduce video clips on its traditional culture and folk arts of ethnic groups, tourist destinations in Ninh Thuan; displaying beautiful photos of tourism, cultural heritage, and scenic spots of the province to Can Tho people and tourists.

The Ninh Thuan Culture and Tourism Day in Can Tho 2023 is one of the important events to strengthen cooperation between the province and Can Tho city in promoting culture and tourism of the two localities as well as other provinces in the Mekong Delta.
