At a conference held yesterday evening, Ga said authorised agencies had been informed about soft skill centres organising brain activation classes for children recently.

He affirmed that all centres offering brain activation therapy were unlicensed, adding that any educational method must be carefully studied before granting a licence. This would help curb all activities that likely cause harm to the natural development of children.

Ga said the ministry has asked education and training agencies in the south, especially in HCM City where such classes were booming, to re-examine the operation of these classes and report to the ministry for a solution.

Local press reported that some of HCM City’s soft skill centres are offering brain activation classes, in which children aged 7-15 are blindfolded and asked to correctly identify colours by just touching the different objects.

The therapy, according to these centres, will improve children’s memory and power of concentration, resulting in a better performance in school.
