Southeast Asian countries have failed to snatch a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games, with all posting lower results than what they did at Beijing four years ago.
Only four SE Asian countries left London with medals this time: Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
The rest of the region, comprising Vietnam, East Timor, Brunei, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and the Philippines did not have any medal.
Thailand is the most successful SE Asian nation at the London Games with two silver medals from boxing and weightlifting, and one bronze from taekwondo. It ranks 57th out of the 85 teams that have at least a medal at London 2012.
Indonesia and Malaysia follow. Each snatched one silver and one bronze, ranking the same at 63rd. The two Indonesian medalists are weightlifters, while a badminton player and a diver earned Malaysia the said trophies.
Singapore snatched two table-tennis bronze, standing at the 75th place.
All of the SE Asian teams saw a decline in their results, compared with Beijing 2008.
Malaysia is the only nation that sees its result improved, as it went from one silver in Beijing to one silver and one bronze this time.
Meanwhile, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam all failed to repeat their achievement four years ago.
Indonesia secured an impressive medal collection with three gold, three silver, and five bronze at Beijing 2008, ranking 24th out of 86 medal-grabbing countries.
Thailand stood at the 32nd place with two gold, and two silver, while Singapore and Vietnam had one silver each, positioning at the 70th rank.
