The samples were collected in the four provinces of HCM City, Quang Ninh, Lang Son and Lao Cai.

The tests aim to assess the levels of aluminum and silicon. All tests did not find toxic chemical residues, nor fungal toxin of aflatoxin in sunflower seeds.

Earlier, a number of online newspapers reported that the authorities of Suzhou City, Zhejiang (China) detected 7 kinds of sunflower seeds contain talc and alum.

Talc is used in industry to prevent sticking to the mold. Alum can keep sunflower seeds to be crunchy, delicious and kept longer. Once it enters the body, it is hard to be excreted, can harm the brain, nerve cells, causing memory loss ... Meanwhile, talc powder makes the seeds glossy, eye-catching, but it contains cancer-causing substances.
