Mr. Doan Nguyen Duc |
VietNamNet Bridge - Owner of Vietnam’s top-flight FC Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL), Doan Nguyen Duc confirms no Vietnamese footballer is worth more than VND5 billion (US$256,000) and announces to withdraw from the ongoing transfer season for expensive price.
He told Tuoi Tre he won’t throw out more than $256,000 to buy a footballer as none of Vietnamese players is now worth that price when the transfer window is reaching its peak.
“No local player is qualified enough to be worth that price,” he confirmed.
With the 2011 premier league in Vietnam, V-League, to kick off on January 22 with 14 participating teams, clubs are now entangled in the war of price to win qualified domestic players.
Vietnam Football Federation rules each club can register only five foreign players for competition and a maximum of three of them can simultaneously compete on field during a match.
Cong Vinh, 25, of T&T Hanoi has been reportedly offered a price of VND20 billion (over $1 million) to leave the club. Navibank Saigon had the signature of striker Quang Hai at the price of VND10 billion ($513,000). Minh Phuong also left Dong Tam Long An to play for SHB Danang at a price of VND7 billion ($359,000).
Vo Quoc Thang, owner of Dong Tam Long An and Nguyen Manh Tuan of Hoa Phat Hanoi and me are financially strong enough to buy players but we accept to withdraw for the price problem, Duc said.
“Some people say I am feeling tired of football now and so I prepare to withdraw,” he told Tuoi Tre. “That’s totally wrong.”
“If I get tired, I won’t spend VND50 billion ($2.6 million) to build the Pleiku stadium [which inaugurated early this year] and $1 million a year for Hoang Anh Gia Lai – Arsenal training academy,” he added.
Youth players of the first training 7-year course of the center will debut in four years and they are expected to bring success to Hoang Anh Gia Lai and the Vietnamese national team.
