The plan was drawn up following reports of stolen property among passengers recently, Pham Quy Vu, the centre's deputy director, said.

He said security forces are working with the relevant agencies to confirm the reports of theft, strengthen inspections and prevent crime.

So far, security forces have been checking that all regulations related to the process of receiving, delivering and transporting passengers' luggage have been followed.

The plan aims to strengthen management and assign specific responsibilities to organisations and individuals at different stages of the luggage-handling process.

Agencies in the aviation sector have also checked the background of all employees who are involved in luggage and goods transportation services.

The waste treatment area of the airport has also been monitored closely to prevent it being used as a hiding place for stolen goods to evade detection by security forces.

Last week, the airport's security force detected two cases of theft of passengers' property.
