A new tropical low pressure system entered in the area of the Gulf of Tonkin, reported by the Central Meteorology Hydrology Forecast Center at 9:30 am on August 28.
By 7am on Thursday, the low pressure was centered at 19-20 degrees north latitude and 107.5 - 108.5 east longitude in the area.
According to forecast weather, the pressure will continue to move towards west northwest in next 24 hours.
Due to the influence of the pressure circulation, showery weather accompanied with strong winds will hit in the Gulf of Tonkin. Meanwhile, some place in north eastern and north central provinces will see heavy rains and thunderstorm.
Northern mountain provinces from Thanh Hoa to Nghe An are forecasted to appear floods and landslides by heavy rains.
Dealing with the bad weather, the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention sent emergency message to authorities of northern, central provinces asking to planning the preventive measures against flood and landslides.
