In hardest-hit Dien Bien Province, one person was killed and three others injured during landslides caused by rain, while property damage was initially estimated up to VND11 billion (US$523,000).

Meanwhile, thousands of ethnic people in Ban May Village, in Ha Giang Province's Hoang Su Phi District, have been isolated after a steel-reinforced concrete bridge was swept away following three days of heavy rain. Many roads in the province were blocked due to landslides.

In Thai Nguyen, a 53-year-old woman was found yesterday, July 3, after being swept away by flood waters. In the city, several main roads were submerged, leading to difficulties in local transport.
