According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, temperatures in the north have begun to rise slightly after four consecutive days of severe cold. On January 25–26, chilly conditions will continue, with mountain areas still experiencing bitter cold, though daily lows and highs are expected to increase by 1–2°C compared to January 24.

Specifically, temperatures in the Red River Delta will range from 13–15°C at night and reach 17–19°C during the day. In the mountains, lows will fall between 9–12°C, and highs from 15–17°C. Despite the temperature increase, ongoing drizzle and mist will maintain a damp, cold sensation.

A weak, east-leaning cold air mass is expected to arrive on the night of January 26–27, affecting the northeastern provinces and Thanh Hoa. Rain and drizzle are forecast to return, and temperatures on January 27 will drop to levels similar to earlier in the week.

From January 28 to 30, skies are expected to clear, ending a prolonged spell of cloudy and rainy days. During this time, northern provinces may see sunshine, with slightly warmer temperatures - lows of 15–17°C and highs of 21–22°C, though mountainous areas may remain cooler.

However, by the evening and night of January 30–31, another stronger cold air mass will move in, bringing drizzle and a further drop in temperatures by 2–4°C.

Experts note that this period marks the peak of winter in northern Vietnam. Although this year’s cold air activity is weaker than average, strong short-term cold spells may still occur through late January and into February. In high mountain areas, frost and ice are possible.
