VietNamNet Bridge – The total number of state employees in 2013 is fixed at 281,700, slightly up from 2012.

According to the decision recently approved by the Prime Minister, the total number of civil servants who are paid by the state budget in 2013 (not including the payroll of the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Defense and civil servants at commune level) is 281,714 (an increase of 12 people compared to 2012).

Of the number, 111,687 people are the personnel of ministries and ministerial-level agencies, the agencies attached to the Government and established by the Government and the Prime Minister but not considered as public service units.

The agencies of the People's Councils and People's Committees of provinces and districts have 161,950 employees. The overseas representative offices have 1,077 staff. There are also 7,000 state employees for provision, including 3,000 for ministries, ministerial-level agencies, the agencies attached to the Government and established by the Government and the Prime Minister and 4,000 for the agencies of the People's Councils and People's Committees of provinces and districts.

In addition, the Prime Minister approved 674 personnel of specialized associations.

The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Home Affair for being in charge of fixing the personnel of ministries, ministerial-level agencies, the agencies attached to the Government and established by the Government and the Prime Minister and the centrally-governed provinces and cities.

Reducing the number of state employees who are paid by the state budget has been a goal of the Vietnamese government for years but the number does not decrease, only rises each year.
