VietNamNet Bridge - Ms. Dao Thi Thuy, an independent member of Ocean Bank Board of Directors, is appointed Chairman of Ocean Bank to replace Ms. Nguyen Minh Thu.

Ms. Nguyen Minh Thu has resigned after two months.

According to the website of Ocean Bank, the Board of Directors’ extraordinary meeting on December 28, accepted the resignation of Ms. Nguyen Minh Thu, who had succeeded the bank’s Chair Ha Van Tham after he was arrested on October 24. Thu is now a member of the Board of Directors.

At the same time, the Board of Directors elected Ms. Dao Thi Thuy, an independent member, as the new chair of Ocean Bank.

Also during this session, Ocean Bank assigned Mr. Vu Nhat Lam as deputy general director replacing Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, who was appointed general director two months ago to replace general director Nguyen Minh Thu who became the bank’s chair. Huong is now the bank’s deputy general director.

Nguyen Minh Thu was born in 1973, has a Master’s of Business Administration. She previously worked at the PetroVietnam Finance Corporation, held the position Deputy General Director of Ocean Bank since 2008 and the General Director from 2011 until being appointed Chair of the Board of Directors in October 2014.

Ms. Dao Thi Thuy graduated from the Academy of Finance. Thuy joined the Board of Directors in April 2014 after the shareholders’ meeting.

Ocean Bank is the only bank in Vietnam whose Board of Directors are all women.
