VietNamNet Bridge – On the afternoon of May 23, Ngo Van Thuong took a gun to the home of Mr. Nguyen Cao Da in Di Linh district, in the central highlands province of Lam Dong, and fired four shots into Da and his wife.

Mr. Da, 76, was dead immediately while his wife, Ms. Doan Thi Tam, also 76, died on the way to hospital.

The culprit, 50, escaped.

According to witnesses, at 3pm, Thuong went to Mr. Da’s house with a gun on his hands. After speaking merely several words, this man fired four shots into the old couple.

The couple’s relatives and neighbors rushed into the house but they could not do anything because Thuong stated to shoot at anyone approaching him. After shooting the old couple, the man escaped.

According to the old couple’s relatives, the coffee fields of Mr. Da and Thuong are situated close. Thuong’s home is near a stream so he built a small hydro-power generator there. His reservoir made water rise, which affected Mr. Da’s coffee garden. Since then the two families have had conflicts.

Local police are hunting Thuong, who was sentenced to five years in jail for unintentional murder. He left prison two years ago.
