VietNamNet Bridge – “After being injured and going to Germany for treatment, my left eye went blind. It suddenly worked again in late October,” said Nguyen The Vien, 82, in the central province of Nghe An.
“My left eye suddenly felt the light while I was doing my morning exercise. I could not believe it so I blindfold the right eye to check. Gradually I could see everything clearer by the left eye. My family is so happy!” Vien said.

As a war correspondent, he traveled to many battlefields during the Vietnam War. In 1969, when the liberation army attacked An Khe airport, Vien was assigned to take photo of the event.

“When I and a German colleague were taking picture of a burning American aircraft, both of us received a gunshot wound on our heads and stomach. I was brought to the former Democratic Republic of Germany for treatment,” the man recalled.

After two years of treatment in Germany, he returned home with a new left eye which could not see. He retired on a pension several years later.

Vien’s miracle has stirred up rumors such as he drank water from a nearby stream or took secret medicines of a Thai man, etc. so the eye worked again after one night.

Vien rejected the rumors, saying that perhaps his left eye has harmonized with his body after 42 years and now it works.
