Suspected COVID-19 patients go to aconcentrated quarantine facility in Hanoi. 

 

 

However result of another PCR test by the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases was negative, according to the latest announcement by the Ministry of Health.

Patient 1,032 is a 21-year-old Vietnamese man from Cầu Giấy District in Hà Nội. The patient was an overseas student and returned from Russia on August 8. He was quarantined upon arrival at a concentrated quarantine facility in Chí Linh District in northern Hải Dương Province.

The patient tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on August 25 and was under treatment at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases between August 25 and September 17.

During treatment, he had his samples taken for testing seven times. Of those, the results of six tests between August 30 and September 15 were negative. The only one returning positive on August 26.

The patient completed the 14-day home quarantine before resuming his studies at Hà Nội University.

The patient had close contact with his family members and his girlfriend during his home quarantine. At the university, he kept a distance of two metres with other students and returned home after classes. He did not wear a face mask in class, but wore it in public.

He said he did not go to public areas or attend crowded activities.    

On November 7, he had fever and went to the Hà Nội Hospital of Transport for a check-up. He was diagnosed with a viral infection and returned home for self-treatment.

On November 11, he experienced a high fever and went to the hospital for a second check-up. The patient took the PCR test and the result came back positive four days later after the sample was transferred to the National Hospital for Pediatrics in Hà Nội.

The city’s Centre for Disease Control said the centre has traced 25 people in close contact with the patient. Of those, his grandmother has been tested and self-quarantined at home, his father has been quarantined at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases together with the patient, and his older brother is currently on a business trip abroad. — VNS
