One person has been killed and four others seriously injured after a car crashed into a train in the northern province of Hai Duong on July 10.

A report from Hai Duong Police said that the accident occurred at a railway crossing in An Duong District at 2 pm on July 10. There were no barriers or guards at the crossing when the car hit the passing train.

The collision pushed the car into a nearby rice field and the five people inside including the 38-year-old driver were seriously injured. They were rushed to a local hospital but one of them, a 69-year-old woman, died before reaching the hospital.

The LP3 train, which was running on the Hanoi-Haiphong route, stopped for 30 minutes for the accident to be investigated before continuing.

Initial investigations showed that the car hadn't stopped at the crossing while the train was nearing. This crossing was opened near a busy toll station and there was no barrier there. An elderly man was assigned to guard the crossing but he was absent at the time of the accident.

Earlier in May and June, a motorbike and a three-wheeled vehicle also crashed into trains at the same location, leaving two drivers dead.
