The bomb is pulling up from the Duong River.

In Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, 45, fished out a bomb from the Duong River in Long Bien district, Hanoi on April 8.

Dung, who specializes in collecting iron from rivers, said that his magnet attracted something which was very heavy. Dung could not pull the thing up so he dived to examine it. He thought that it was a big block of iron. He asked the help from three other men.

It took the four men hours to pull the thing up from the river. When they lifted it from the water, they thought that it was an oxygen cylinder but it turned out to be a bomb. They were frightened and drove away from the bomb.

The case was reported to the local authorities. Sappered were sent to the site to defuse the bomb.

Colonel Pham Van Thinh from the Hanoi High Command says that the bomb is 1.6m long and 250kg in weight. The bomb was dropped by the US army into the Duong River in 1972.
